Dr. Kenneth Gilbertson had spent a lifetime treating patients with traditional chiropractic methods, but it took him living with excruciating pain and a potentially career-ending injury for him to personally experience the healing power of regenerative medicine.
In 2011, Dr. Gilbertson was thrown from a horse surprised by an armadillo skittering across the trail. Trying to hold onto the saddle horn, he ripped his bicep muscle and tore ligaments in his wrist before landing on his shoulder, tearing his rotator cuff and herniating five lumbar discs. He was recommended spinal fusion surgery which he refused.
After several months of his own spinal decompression treatment, Dr. Gilbertson’s back pain was virtually eliminated. Looking for a solution to the pain and restricted use of his arm and shoulder, Dr. Gilbertson became his own patient and submitted to an injection of stem cells and platelet-rich plasma.
Today, Dr. Gilbertson has full use of his shoulder and arm and offers regenerative medicine to patients dealing with pain due to osteoarthritis, injury, neuropathy, plantar fasciitis, disc problems or bone issues.
Dr. Gilbertson’s clinic, MD Health & Wellness, provides a diverse range of wellness options, including regenerative medicine, medication-free treatment for peripheral neuropathy, hormone balancing, weight loss and lower back spinal decompression.
Dr. Gilbertson, who has treated more than 10,000 patients since opening his clinic in 1974, is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Pain Management and a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Applied Spinal Biomechanical Engineering.
A past president of the Missouri State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Dr. Gilbertson was an Adjunct Clinical Faculty Member, Logan College of Chiropractic where he received his graduate degree, and is a diplomat of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and American Academy of Pain Management.
His professional memberships have included American Chiropractic Association, the Missouri State Chiropractic Association, the St. Louis Chiropractic Association and the World Chiropractic Alliance.
